One of the biggest challenges of waterways in Brazil and the world is having an adequate draft level for vessels with heavy loads. According to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), the Brazilian port sector moved 1,104 billion of tons in 2019 and grew 31,5% in the last five years. That’s why, waterway infrastructures, are used for the transportation of goods such as iron mining, petroleum and derived, soy and corn, and plays a very important role on the country’s development.
The construction, expansion and restoring of waterways, as well as its recurring maintenance, are premises to facilitate the operations of Public Ports and Terminals for Private Use (TUPs). Allonda acts with high efficiency and safety in projects, execution, and environmental solutions management to solve problems such as silting and waterways in ports, shipyards, and cruise terminals. We have experience in channel engineering, dredging, overthrow, investigations (geotechnics, bathymetry, sonar, seismic, survey, numerical modeling) and treatment of contaminated material.
The port infrastructure needs to adapt constantly to the modernization of the international fleet and ships, especially in aspects that involve the height of the draft. Therefore, silt removal in waterways assure more security to vessels and can amplify waterways accesses to the port terminals, adapting the dimensions of shipment to the maritime traffic.
Engineering on the maritime channel
Allonda’s specialized team has experience in maritime channel engineering for ship vessels, whether they be natural or artificial. Our environmental solutions always take into consideration aspects such as:
- Conceptualization of the project – area, type of shipment and execution time;
- Survey and history of oceanographic data;
- Hydrographic and geotechnical survey;
- Maneuver numerical modeling (computer practicing);
- Elaboration of executive project on the maritime channel.
Demolition
To make possible the traffic of ships, many times it’s necessary to perform material demolition, that is, removal of objects such as rocks from the bottom of the hydric body. Demolition is an engineering technic used to remove obstacles that normally have as its origin the blasting of underwater rocks – that is, they are not caused by silting.
Allonda has experience in homologation of vessels channels, readjustment of the access channel and evolution basins through demolition services, specially turned to TUP ports. In all our services of demolition we apply the current legislation of CONAMA, as well as execute the environmental monitoring plan for mitigation of risks of environmental impacts.
