The drainage or dehydration and sludge drying processes help to reduce the volume of generated waste, reducing considerably the costs of destination and transportation of such material, contributing to keep the sustainability of the undertaking.
Using one or more technology can broaden the supplying of drinkable water for the population, improve the treatment efficiency, lessen the costs with transportation, energy chemical products and operation time, amongst other benefits. In this area, the possibilities are infinite, relying specifically on the capacity of innovation and creativity – two things Allonda has a lot. Our large know-how in environmental solutions and sludge treatment cover many technological routes, always fitting the best solution for each case.
Sludge treatment by geosynthetics
It’s a process by mechanic dehydration in which sludge is pumped to the interior of big cylindrical bags make by a porous geotextile tissue of high resistance. The solids are kept and the free water is continuously removed through the pores of the tissue.
Normally, to improve the quality of the percolated water is necessary to dose the chemical products, such as coagulants and/or flocculants. The solid content at the end of the filling process of those geobags varies of characteristics of the solid material to be dehydrated and the time it stays inside the recipient after the pumping process has finished.
Get to know the main advantages of the process of treatment and sludge dehydration by geosynthetics:
- Low implementation and operation cost;
- High contention volume with accelerated volume deduction;
- Handy dehydrated sludge remotion;
- Economy on destination and transportation of waste;
- No mechanical complications, requires low maintenance;
- Serves small and big sludge treatment systems;
- Doesn’t require special equipment;
- The size is customized for the usage field.
Sludge treatment by decanter centrifuge
In this process of mechanic dehydration, the waste is pumped in low pressure and previously conditioned by the addition of chemical products (usually flocculants), producing two torrents: the sludge drainage and clarified water, also called centered. The decanter centrifuge is formed by a cylindrical container, a spiral conveyor that realize the necessary rotation by STS and WTP. The separated solids are dragged by the action of a screw of approximately 2.500 G – that is, 2.500 times bigger than the gravitational force.
Through the action of the centrifuge strength resulting from the rotation of the container and the spiral conveyor, the heavier solids are taken to internal walls of the container, while the liquid phase flow to the opposite extreme, where it is taken out and returns to the initial treatment of the STS and WTP. The separated solid are dragged by the action of a screw with no end to the conic extreme, where the dried pie is removed.
The screw turns in a rotation slightly inferior of the one in the container. Decanters centrifuges can yet be equipped with inverters of frequency that shape the rotation from the container as well as the spiral conveyor to improve the efficiency of separation and produce a centered with better quality.
See the main vantages of the sludge dehydration treatment by geosynthetics:
- Mechanical and continuous process;
- Low cost of workforce;
- High feed throughput.
Sludge treatment by dehydration tower
The dehydration tower is totally developed and patented by Allonda. Admittedly a clean energy equipment, has low energetic consumption cost in comparison with other technologies that have sludge treatment as its function.
Such solution is applicable to all sorts of industrial effluents, and also for agrobusinesses waste. It’s the only equipment nowadays that reuses the vertical geosynthetic bag many times during its operation. It has a vertical compact design that work simultaneously the functions of contention of mass and solids and drainage of liquids, which offers high efficiency on the contention and dehydration of solid mass.
This is a new product, which has already won an award on the category “Innovation” by Fundações e Obras Geotécnicas magazine.
